CRIE OUT (2001)
Crie Out is a major work examining the rich cultural heritage and vocal traditions of North-East Scotland. Through dance and movement, voice recordings and Makaton – a form of sign language – this multi-media production takes us back in time to look at stories about our fishing and farming roots. From the dances at Yarmouth and Buckie to the ten shilling note in the Bible we go back to laugh and weep with the people whose lives were Moulded by their connections to the land and the sea. Much research went into producing the work, with company members visiting local libraries and museums and meeting local people to glean knowledge and stories about the area and its past. Members of ODTC performed on stage and behind the scenes with professional actors and technicians – all recruited from Moray and the North-east.
